Pic-O-De-Crop Competition Coming from the preliminary stages of the competition in the calypso tents, through the semi-finals at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium and eventually on to the Pic-O-De-Crop Finals this is without a doubt the most highly anticipated event on the annual Crop Over calendar. At stake is the coveted title of ‘Calypso Monarch of Barbados’. This year’s action comes to a climax back on the old stomping ground, The National Stadium, featuring the nine finalists and the defending Monarch. It is a world-class musical presentation that is considered to be the best production of its type within the calypso tradition of the Caribbean. Who will be the nine chosen to attempt to take the crown from the reigning monarch David “Popsicle” Hall on August 3rd?
