Calypso Tents

Calypso is synonymous with Caribbean carnivals, Barbados being no exception. The tent is the house the Calypsonian built, a venue where these social commentators express the views of the people, usually sentiments of approval or criticism of the institutions, agencies and individuals that impact on day to day living. Perhaps those who feel the pressure of the Calypsonian most are the very judges selected to assess their performances. Away from the scrutiny of the judges and inside the fete, the mood is one of revelery when the ‘said same’ Kaisomen release the tension and find time to ‘Wine on Something’. Come bus’ a wine in the tents this season.
